Synopsis
Flash back: XV century. Cruel and merciless Dominican friar, inquisitor ISPANA , is ordered by the Pope to hunt down and kill the members of a mysterious monastery. ISPANA, before murdering his victims, tries to reveal a threatening secret the monks hide. The monastery is symbolized by four-leaf clover.
Year 1936 in Poland. MICHAL HELLER, Professor of physics at Gdansk University is removed from his Dean`s office. The reason he is given: unconventional views on the idea of space and unreal philosophy on the creation of universe. Meanwhile his good friend ANNA has been brutally murdered. Since police has no clues, HELLER decides to start his private investigation. FATHER TOMAS, who appears in the story as the messenger from Vatican, supports HELLER`s actions.
ANNA`s recent case (she was a lawyer) seems to be the most obvious trace. In that trail, BARON ALTSTEIN wants to regain authority over his lost estate – old monastery. The medieval monastery became a shelter for mentally retarded, run by a suspicious charity organisation. Many bizarre things take place in the shelter, neighboring with BARON`s palace.
During a complex plot of unexpected events, a few murders, of people who came too close to the truth occurred. Moreover HELLER starts having extraordinary visions, which are hard to distinguish from reality and sometimes strongly intertwine with it. HELLER gets closer and closer to uncovering the secret hidden behind the few hundred-year-old conflict.
It all began in the XIII century in Jerusalem, when a French knight LEROY found a golden case with four apocrypha. The apocrypha described, the unknown before, 18 years from the life of Christ (between 12th and 30th) never reviled in the Bible. The apocrypha were written by the Christ himself and talked of the years he has spent in the Tibetan monastery. The knowledge Jesus has gained there led to the four level of wisdom, and the most significant is the level of holiness.
When the evil bishops find out about the apocrypha, they want to either destroy them or send them to Vatican. LEROY preserves three of the apocrypha and initiates the monastery of Brothers of Light and Eternity. Two centuries later ISPANA, the ruthless inquisitor manages to steal the wisdom of the three apocrypha. ISPANA decides to keep it to himself and not share it with his “brothers” in Vatican. He uses the knowledge to become immortal and travel through various incarnations to posses the final truth of fourth apocrypha. During this time journey ISPANA murders the members of Brothers of Light and Eternity monastery.
ISPANA`s present incarnation is MANFRED EVELIUS – the shelter’s administrator. For his next incarnation ISPANA/MANFRED chooses HELLER.
HELLER lives in two worlds: of ISPANA and in reality. When HELLER starts to loose his real consciousness, THE CHURCH decides to share with HELLER the wisdom concealed in the fourth apocrypha which has been hidden in Vatican.
In the final scenes HELLER confronts and destroys ISPANA.
